Our Island-Hopping Honeymoon

Mahé

We started our honeymoon on Mahé and were immediately struck by the island's beauty. The drive from the airport to the hotel, Kempinski Seychelles Resort, revealed to us many beautiful spots and we knew already then that we had to rent a car and explore the island on our own.

The gorgeous 5-star resort Kempinski, located in Baie Lazare, was an attraction on its own. The hotel was huge and amazing. We were treated really well and the service was great. Two of the days we dined at one of the restaurants at the hotel (Windsong Beach restaurant).

Renting a car on Mahé was the best decision we made. By doing this, you may discover hidden spots and have the possibility to stop wherever you like as you find the perfect beach on your way.

La DigueLa Digue

Our days on Mahé consisted of lots of road trips from the south to the north of the island, a trip to Eden Island, a hike to Morne Blanc and zip-lining through SMAC-adventures.

La Digue

Going from the Kempinski Seychelles resort to the rather simple Zerof Guesthouse was probably not the best idea we have had. The transition was not the smoothest but we adjusted after one day.

This island is very different from Mahé and it has its own charm. It's small and you tend to see the same people over and over again.

It was lovely renting bikes on La Digue and spending the day discovering the island. We managed to cover the whole island (from north to almost all the way south) in one day.

On our way we saw beautiful beaches and cozy cafés. Our favorite lunch spot was Chez Jules where we enjoyed refreshing drinks and simple lunch dishes.

TortoiseTortoise

We saw turtles on all islands but on la Digue we met one on the way. The turtles were definitely one of the highlights of the trip!

We also got to experience one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, Anse Source d'Argent. It was as gorgeous as in the pictures on Google!

Praslin

On this island we stayed at the Berjaya Praslin Resort. This was an ok place to stay and we had many restaurants close-by to choose from.

Worth to mention is the amazing ice cream bar Gelateria de Luca, which could be reached after a 10-15 minute walk. This soon became our favorite spot with at least 1-2 visits per day.

We wanted to snorkel so we booked a boat-excursion trip to the neighborhood island Curieuse. Here we did a 40-minute walk across a nature trail and enjoyed a lovely barbeque after.

We got to spend a few hours at the beach where we could relax and swim. We really liked this beach and it is perhaps our favorite beach at the Seychelles.

After that we were picked up by a boat to go to St.Pierre for snorkeling. This was a fun and unique experience.

The last day we explored Praslin on our own by renting a car. We drove around the island and visited different beaches, including the Anse Lazio.

We also visited the Vallée de Mai and had a tour in the jungle. Here we got to see the Coco de Mer and other rare palms.
